Signify has announced that Kevin Poyck is appointed as its new Market Group Leader Americas. In this role, Poyck will focus on driving commercial operations for Signify’s customers in the US, Canada and Latin America.
Poyck was formerly Group President at Hubbell Lighting, where he had been for 14 largely successful years. For the last four he was Group President, responsible for the overall management of the lighting company and its 4,000 employees across North America and China.
Hubbell had announced his departure a few days ago in an unusually terse statement (“effective today, Kevin Poyck is no longer employed by Hubbell Incorporated”) that suggests a distinct lack of goodwill.
Signify’s enthusiasm appears to be making up for it, of course. “I am particularly pleased to welcome Kevin to our leadership team in this important role,” said Eric Rondolat, CEO of Signify. “I see his appointment as another strategic step for Signify to accelerate growth in the Americas.
“Kevin is an industry veteran with extensive experience in the lighting industry and across multiple industries and disciplines which will be critical as we continue our transformation in the Americas and globally.”
The enthusiasm seems to be matched by the man himself. “This is an exciting time to be joining Signify,” said Poyck. “I am excited about the opportunities to continue to grow the company in this market.”
The news of Poyck’s arrival follows quickly from Signify’s earlier announcement regarding its intention to acquire Cooper Lighting Solutions, a key strategic move that should greatly improve Signify’s position in the Americas even though the two businesses will largely continue to operate independently.
