Zumtobel equips Oslo airport with 21,200 LED luminaires

Zumtobel Group Airport Oslo 4 217x300 - Zumtobel equips Oslo airport with 21,200 LED luminairesZumtobel Group has equipped the new terminal at Oslo airport with a modern lighting solution involving more than 21,200 Zumtobel and Thorn brand LED luminaires with Tridonic technology inside. The terminal also has new emergency lighting and lighting control systems from Zumtobel Group Services (ZGS). The total order volume amounts to more than €5 million.

The Zumtobel Group brands delivered a combination of standard products and luminaires that were tailor-made to this particular customer. It was particularly important to Avinor, the company that runs the Oslo airport, that the luminaires in the new terminal were visually a match for existing lighting in the other areas of the airport. Zumtobel was the only tenderer able to meet these requirements, with LED luminaires designed specifically for the airport.

The new lighting solution therefore fits in seamlessly with the new building’s architecture and also with the ambience in the older parts of the building.

The lighting is controlled with the aid of the ZGS Skyscanner, a daylight gauge head that constantly measures the incoming sunlight and adjusts the lighting accordingly. This ensures that in each area an amount of artificial light is contributed in order to create the perfect combination of artificial light and natural daylight. The control system also takes the colour of the natural daylight into account and transfers it to the artificial lighting inside the terminal building.

“We are very proud to have supplied one of the most renowned and modern airports in Europe with our state-of-the-art lighting solutions,: said Philip Widner, VP Sales Region Northern Europe, Zumtobel Group. “The wide product portfolio of our brands made it possible to meet all of the requirements at Oslo airport and to deliver the perfect solution for a project of this size and complexity.”
